I think that there is a good chance that there is a link between the interview and any price change. In a stable company, without any change in fundamentals, there is a slow trickle of sellers over time, however the number of buyers can vary dramatically with broker recommendations, newsletters, press articles, hence we can get a surges of buyers whenever the company receives attention, pushing the price higher.
