Looks like elemental sulphur is mainly used for agriculture hence Australia's need. It would appear that that this product can be turned into sulphuric acid:

"Well over half of the global sulphuric acid production comes from burning elemental sulphur in special equipment at points of consumption. "

Interesting in that sulphuric acid is used in high quantities for laterite nickel / cobalt producers.

No doubt both elemental sulphur and and iron produced will be low cost / bulk commodity type products hence why they don't get much of a mention. Might be some nice additional revenue though if your looking at the bigger picture.
