I have tried to find comparable examples, but with little success. Best I could find was a company being taken over primarily for 1 drug that was seen as a possible block buster.
It was very late in the trial process, so it had been as about as de-risked as you could hope for [Refer RA's comments about waiting] and the price paid was 3 times the estimated revenue that would be generated. The IPO in 2009 was around $150 million US dollars, Not sure how much patent time was left.
So Monepantel as a drug could make the owner ??? Patents start to expire starting 2032 for Canine/Human cancer and 2040 for antiviral. So a reasonably long runway for a company to get their money back.
Remember RA has said he thinks 1 company will take all the licenses. Not sure if he was including the Doggies in that.
Does anyone have any evidence of similar situations ?
