Pablo, the trucking issue is a furphy. Because the trucks taking the 50kt of SOP from the MOP back to Geraldton will be hauling the MOP from the port, it doesn’t help reduce costs on the primary 120kt.
The historical difference between MOP and SOP is $200/t, but this year that premium has reduced to $100/tn (MOP prices have been rising faster than SOP). You can’t import MOP, truck it to site and truck it back to Geraldton again for that price. Maybe by 2024 premiums will have returned to historical levels, but maybe they won’t? All we know is at the moment it doesn’t look economic.
