Biological sterility

The biologically sterile lakes are toxic to life. Biologically sterile means nothing lives in the lake - it’s a toxic environment for any lifeform.

There’s no food there for birds or animals. No brine shrimp, no worms, no bacteria, no nothing. They are unique places. And that's the kind of data that can be verified with a kid’s microscope.

And there are plenty of other lakes around that whole area to choose for watering holes instead.

Existing eco-surveys

Existing eco-surveys around that area have found no fauna of significance were found likely to be impacted in any significant way. e..g. Vertebrate Fauna Survey (Level 2) Medcalf Project 2020 is right in the primary lake zone system and 20km from Lake Hope itself.

PFS was underway as of 6 April 2023.

This incorporates the desktop environmental work already undertaken as above, and;

Biota Environmental Services, Perth, will be completing flora and fauna surveys and also help coordinate the approvals process for the Mining Lease Application. Those eco-surveys started in November.

So, there are good indications no EPA assessment will be required and no tier 2/3 management plans will apply.
