    Looks like a win-win for SMR and Peabody. SMR gets an upfront payment for reserves / resource it is unlikely to mine in even in the medium term and a royalty for coal (albeit only at circa USD1.7 per ton) when it is actually mined. I would love to have a look at the transaction model created by each of SMR and Peabody to see what NPV they both assessed the transaction at. Unfortunately, that will remain a secret......

    Also hard to imagine BHP entering into a JV as described by the announcement. BHP would do it all them selves (as they virtually have unlimeted resources to do so) rather than look to share infrastructure etc.
