I mention this merely as it could affect transaction volumes with LotteryWest and hence JIN.

'The Australian' today had a small article where a recently departed fairly senior employee of this WA State Government-owned lottery operator claimed that increasingly grants under some program LW runs were being allocated on a partisan basis.

In particular he referred to how an application by former tennis player Margaret Court's 'church' for a van for food distribution to the marginalised was refused. The article stated that many in WA would be displeased with this.

In response, LW suggested it has approved grants to St Vincent de Paul and St Patrick's (I don't know what the latter is as I'm across in Victoria: by the sound of it, probably a Catholic parish/organisation).

The departed staff member specifically mentioned the risk of lower lottery transaction numbers.

Perhaps we'll never know if this sort of thing has any effect. I don't know if it was the subject of discussion in 'The West Australian', on Perth talkback radio or on the very popular Channel 7 News over there that consistently outrates Channel 9 (and the ABC) by a massive margin.
