It's not a good analogy, because there is nothing simple about developing and manufacturing a new brand of potato chip on a Woolies shelf - this would typically be at least a 1 year project.

Having said that, your point does nicely illustrate that if introducing a new brand of potato chip takes at least 1 year, in hindsight, we should not be surprised that introducing an unknown new product which is also a new technology with real competitve edge and advantages, BUT into an ultra-conservative industry/market, takes seemingly forever.
