He’s got the runs on the board as an excellent CEO and may even have been offered this job herd but is possibly over that after a 40 year career (and board would have been even more Paladin-weighted)
Nevertheless as a mentor for the ‘greener’ Graham he’s a wonderful choice, I think , and that he has accepted this open-ended contract indicates to my (hopeful) eyes that he sees he can genuinely contribute to positive outcomes.
