    In his role as NED, he provides his expertise to form and re-direct strategy for management to execute. Then to assess and challenge that execution.

    Surely his imparted knowledge within the board room is sufficiently moulding AVL strategy? What extra 'service' could he possibly provide that couldn't be done by him mentoring a senior manager to do it?
