I guess the market had priced in expectations (i) that the result would be worse than it was and (ii) more bad news would be announced with the results. Neither of these eventuated which suggests that the pre-result share price was too pessimistic. Add in a number of cautiously optimistic forward looking statements and would have been surprising if the share price hadn't rallied post result.
