You’re correct; I didn’t know that PYC had been using AI to choose potential disease targets. Nor did I realise that they had been using AI to design the CPPs and mRNA cargoes to restore protein production to normal levels. I thought this had been done by researchers in labs, aided by researchers from the Eye Institute (for example). I also didn’t know that the preclinical work had been carried out under the guidance of AI. I haven’t been in contact with Rohan lately. But when I do I’ll ask him how much AI has contributed to PYC’s current position.
I do not doubt that AI has a role to play in the future of this company. I simply question the timing of the joint venture with Google and the cost at this stage of the company’s progress. And it seems the market agreed…at least, today.
Kodak is a good example of a company that perished because it didn’t embrace new technology. But, for every Kodak there would be many companies that failed by losing focus on their main path or by spending money on peripheral schemes. The corporate landscape is littered with them.
