BP8 (its predeccesor SCU) tried to establish a seaweed farm in Singapore but failed to achieve the required regulatory approvals. The company currently has no assets ot staff capable of cultivating seaweed. It just has a bare bones seaweed research lab in the Singapore Marine Aquaculture Centre, which it has sub-let out, and which is not currently engaged in any meaningful work. I assume the Singapore Government has insisted on seeing a forward work progrm as a condition for them maintaining the MAC lease, which is why they released this announcement with those vague and lofty research goals.
