If Gary found out today that he was allocated $8k in the SPP, he might sell $8k of his original $10k investment today in order the maintain his $10k investment in AIA. If he doesn’t get his allocation today, he doesn’t know how much to sell and therefore may be selling at a lower price on Monday.
