The reality is,he had a free ride taking over from Rob Fyfe who was the real architect of Air NZ's turn around.Luxon lucked out,record low fuel prices,all competitors on the AKL-LAX route pulled out until recently,which left them with a monopoly on the route.The 787's that Fyfe ordered were delivered 4 years late,so these fuel efficient aircraft turned up under Luxo's watch and not Fyfes.
My feeling is Luxo is p*ssed he didn't leave a year earlier,his ego will be hurting that the record profits are no more and he wants to get the hell out of there now that it is actually going to be difficult to make money in the GLOBAL downturn.....None of this has anything to do with the Labour Govt...chill out and get back on your meds.
