AIZ says it is concentrating on providing passengers (not 'customers': they're at Countdown or WOW) with a 'reliable and stable schedule of flying' across the Tasman.
This is not possible when we have Australian state Premiers such as Daniel Andrews or sidekick James Merlino in Victoria, and Annastacia Palaszczuk in Queensland/Mark McGowan in WA who are willing to shut down borders or impose lockdowns (and even previously in Victoria's case a curfew) when there are a tiny number of COVID-19 'cases'.
Similarly, fellow socialist Jacinda Ardern's mismanagement of this situation has been hugely economically damaging to NZ, and like in Victoria must be imposing huge costs on small business let aloine larger ones like AIZ.
But small businesspeople often vote Liberal/Nationals in Australia or National in NZ so these Labor/Labour leaders' care factor is 'nil'.
These disproportionate responses will continue to cost AIA, AIZ, CTD, FLT, QAN, REX, SYD and WEB (to name a few) a lot more in losses. There's no end in sight, because politicians who keep pursuing an 'elimination strategy' (despite claiming it's 'active suppression') will fail. We have to learn to live with this virus so high levels of vaccinated Aussies and Kiwis ought be the goal.
