That's not the entire truth though is it: Phase 3 restarted on 17 Sept, Also there are 150 COVID19 vaccines in development at the moment and 11 in Phase 3 all of them slightly different all of them with plusses and minuses. The balance of probability is that we will hear that we have a working vaccine by the end of October. Getting approval locally may take time, but I am sure most governments will be throwing money at the regulator to optimise that process. Delivery of the vaccine is going to annoying I've read that the lead vaccines require sub -90 degree storage (liquid nitrogen is at -90 degrees). But all that is logistics. Apparently, the US has ordered a large number of refrigerated trucks to cart these things around. I see mass vaccination starting the beginning of next year and taking up to 1 to 2 years to be at a point where we are reaching herd immunity. But I don't think we will need herd immunity to restart flights, we just need to require that fliers prove that they have been vaccinated before boarding, just like we do for international travel.
