It remains essentially an airline dependent on government (tax payer) largess. In the form of wage subsidies and freight subsidies.

And this government (in the medium term) does not want foreign workers to travel to NZ. The government does not want bulk cargo class travellers coming to NZ (They want a few high value tourists). The government does not want foreign students coming to NZ (and returning home on holidays).

In the short-term the govt does not want Nzers return to NZ if they have covid. Even though Covid, seasonal flu and all sorts of other disease are running rife in th country plagued by an under resourced health system. But a Covid positive (but tests negative) foreigner can fly into NZ.

This govt is so committed to climate change it is going to tax farmers - the only country in the world that will do this. And farming is our primary industry. So how keen do you think they are in encouraging one of the dirtiest polluters - airlines.

What AirNZ is essentially going to be is an airline that services sitting Mp's and gives them and their remora public servants an ability to fly around NZ.

AirNZ has had no appetite to improve customer service. They state in emails a customer can expect a 10 - 15 day response. If you call on the phone you can expect a 3 hour minimum delay.

AirNZ has just come out and said customers have to expect large increase in airfares due to increased fuel costs.

In the meantime the worlds financial markets are tanking. Inflation is globally rampant. Interest rates on debt is increasing, share markets are plummeting and even the crypto market is taking a huge hit. So where are travelers going to find money to fly?

So how is it going to get better from here?

AIZ will get much better whenever Ardern goes or is deposed/ defeated as PM, NZ will stop losing at everything and start turning around.

NZ is a nation in crisis.

NZ is just a nation of whining, whinging and generally disappointed people at this moment. it is quite desperate how bad it has become down there.

When Ardern moves on, AIZ could easily be many multiple times its current value, the NZ economy just needs some support and Wellington has to become more business focused and less focused on the nanny or Nannygate.
