From memory only a handful of wells have been drilled into the lower sheet with mixed results off poor seismic. As we know Marti-5 had a significant oil column but was drilled overweight and off the main structure. There was atleast one well in the northern fold belt that did flow but had water influx. It's greatly untested given the seismic is vintage.

The company is sitting on the data of all the wells drilled in Cuba and therefore they have an understanding of the likely results if they drilled this new zone differently.

I'll add that there are likely more discoveries to be made and new 2D/3D is needed. The next 12-24 months will be huge and there will likely be deal or two being made as these discovery will require deep pockets.
