Dear fellow HC contributors,
I think that this might be my third contribution in over a decade so please be kind as I have noticed that the tenor of some of the discussions in recent years has become a little uncivil.
I was fortunate to start investing in LTR in June 2019 when I bought in at 0.098. I bought more in 2020 @ 0.13. I was surrounded by wise old geologists and civil engineers who advised me that LTR had a magnificient future.
Just like all shares, I have seen the price of LTR go up and down but the trajectory was been very positive. It has a quality management and resource base.
Albemarle has obviously seen LTR's potential as has Hancock.
I am a little concerned that some honest, decent retail investors might sell their holdings on Wednesday because of some fear-driven persuasion or panic from those with a strategic agenda (shorters or insto manipulators) whose primary objective is to get more of LTR shares at a bargain basement price.
For the young, the naive, the emotional retail investors with poor memories let me remind you of a similiar takeover episode 4 years ago that is now forgotten about - which has some parallels to the LTR takeover offer by Albemarle.
In July-August 2019, WES offered a struggling LYC $2.25 per share. It seemed at the time to those (who forgot LYC potential) to be an attractive price....especially for those who needed some quick liquidity. For the patient, for the clam, long sighted investors they have been rewarded. Yes, Lynas' price did decline after the offer. But a few years later, the WES offer of $2.25 looked very poor when LYC's share price hit $11. Even today, when LYC is facing some cost blowouts in WA and the REE price is still depressed, the price is 300% higher than the WES 2019 offer.
The temporary share price decline after the takeover rejection is now a very small blip on the 5 year price chart.
Perspective and patience are two important qualities when investing in high quality shares. LTR is one of those. Albemarle did not walk away from this takeover bid because it found anything wrong with the resource base or the production model. Gina R certainly did not buy 19% @ circa $3 to sell at $2.50.
I just want you to have the patience of Warren Buffet and to have faith in your initial investment in LTR. I and many others believe that like LYC, Liontown will be valued many times the $3 Albemarle offer. Perhaps there will be healthy dividends as well.
Unless you are in debt and you really need to sell, just forget about this little chapter and look at your LTR holdings in a few years time and pat yourself on the back that you did not fret, panic because of a few manipulators on HC and other social media sites whose objective is very transparent.
(PS: I have not sold a single LTR share. My profit is well over 2000% and by the end of the week it may be lower. Who cares! Long-term, long-term is the game unless you are 85years old and need to go for a couple of round-the-world cruises.)
All the very best to, you, the little retail investor. I don't want you to regret in a few years a decision you may regret. I want you to be like me - retired as of last year because I listened to and believed in a few very wise, calm people who educated me to control my emotional impulses (in the main!!) and to be patient.
So glad that LTR is still Australian owned and on its way to production in 2024!
