So the Abilene site is 1100 acres, and now seems to have mentioned capacity for 2200 MW, which seems new to me. See https://lancium.com/solutions/
Stockton mentions 110 acres for 325 MW. Additional campuses are 2500 acres for 3900 MW. From this, it seems the density in those locations can be up to just under 3 MW per acre (and about 0.33 acres per MW), and I assume that is data centre space without actual power generation. Abilene and Stockton are semi-arid locations, so there would need to be more air space you might think, and they'd have far lower access to water than Edmonton. Re Crusoe data centres (see link 1 below): This design will be optimized for direct-to-chip liquid cooling or rear door heat exchangers, but the design is flexible enough to include air cooling.
From my calcs (link 2) they might need about 10 acres for every 170 MW net power station with no boundaries required for safety. So that could be broken down to 17 MW of generation per acre, 0r 0.06 acres per MW.
So it could be possible that they could get a 1GW data centre complex at 0.4 acres per MW, on 400 acres of land.
In the recent update dated 28/11/24" "Expanding land holdings and new project sites KDP currently has three projects under full site control. 160 acres at Alsike Energy Park, 65 acres at Myers Energy Centre (formerly Ellis) and 160 acres at Gilby Energy Centre.
To meet AI Data Centre needs for additional scope and scale, KDP has recently been negotiating terms to
acquire up to 290 acres of additional land at the Myers Energy Centre and to secure up to 320 acres with a
new site at Crossfield."
So in theory at 0.4 acres per MW, Myers might have 880 MW of capacity, and Crossfield 800 MW. Seems to me in a colder climate requiring less air cooling, and with more water availability the density may be much higher than I am calculating too. Obviously there will be a need to seek further permits etc.
