May I also add - that the 2nd type of existing informatics systems ( the integratable technologies) are like 'jack of all trades' as they sit across each business unit of the hospital & it talks to each unit.
However, the problem with these existing systems is that they are not - BEST IN CLASS ... so because they are so wide-spread in what they are required to do, they aren't the best of the best for each respective area.
ALC's tech allows the hospital to have it's cake & eat it too...
i.e. keep the best in class systems for each area & ensure they talk to each other.
