Chamonix is an IT consulting firm providing services, from building custom applications and helping to choose and implement off-the-shelf software or developing cloud-based solutions, to enterprise and state government clients.

If indeed this is a potential acquisition target you would hope either the cross pollination benefits of customers/services are strong, or Chamonix have some very solid tech products in the pipeline. I would be less than enthusiastic about acquiring a professional services business just because they play in the same market, as I prefer the 'pure play' investment opportunity of a tech business (i.e. ALC), as the tech has significant scale potential, whereas consulting does not.

That said, there's smart people behind the wheel here, and I doubt Nick D/Blue Sky would let them pull off a deal that would be detrimental to the genuine growth potential of ALC. So here's to hoping whatever the potential acquisitions is, it's a quality one.
