I am expecting this court case to take months to play out so i don't expect the fine to hit their bottom line for the moment.
The eventual closure of the Portland smelter is IMHO is more of an issue.
it has always been a known fact the Chinese have produced 55% of the world's Alumina but their grades are diminishing allowing the WA refineries to now one of the lowest cost producers.
The fact that they are selling it at $284 a tonne when spot is $225 is definitely promising in a long term play especially with a rising aluminium price.
