The first hole has an interesting upper intercept of 150 m of pyrite bearing calcareous sediments that Carlin type gold ore host rock its invisible micro scopic gold within pyrite that can even be detected in a panning dish even though it is high grade ore. There are several deposits in nearby Nevada where it was first discovered at Carlin Nevada the main deposit has 35 million ozs of gold. Several big operations are within the Carlin Trend in Nevada The Carlin Trend is one of the richest gold mining districts in the world having produced over 84 million ounces of gold since the early 1960s. Barrack and Newmont are some of the big operators there.
