1. I personally havent seen the ins and outs of the back end of the app but I can remember some kind of ruckus caused around the method the app uses to consult other applications databases etc. because it skips API's. This is also the reason it was patented or classed as IP, whether or not it needs API's I cant actually verify.

2. Common sense would have a slick design and user friendly GUI to wrap up the feeds. I actually hope that they get (not joking here) a younger person with a some skill in aesthetic design to knock up the final GUI for the gen pop to use. as for the white label telco product no doubt they will want it customised to suit their needs.
