I don't think they pay any brokerage and hence those ridiculous orders.
I think everyone here is over thinking this.
It's simply fund managers (i.e. Hedge funds, Super funds, etc.) trying to take a position and they are putting in sell orders to try and trigger people's stop losses so they can pick up shares on the cheap.
