No Alex the big difference is in your incorrect interpretation.
If it said the new treatment for PCM opens up a market "TO" Alexium of more than 5 million per annum then you would be justified in being confused because this would imply the market is 5 mill and Alexium is competing for part of it.
BUT it doesn't it clearly says the new treatment for PCM opens up a market "FOR" Alexium of more than 5 million per annum.
In the latter only Alexium is getting the share of more than 5 million.
Please understand the difference - because everyone else can.
There is no discrepancy: To and For are as different as Two and Four.
