re: Ann: ALGAE.TEC SIGNS WASTE TO ENERGY AGRE...
I thought it very hollow, as you describe and had some other similar thoughts, but you've actually taken a bit more an extreme view than I have (the crowd gasps in shock at someone being more negative about AEB than myself!).
It certainly doesn't seem like the actions of a company which believes the claims it makes. If they're willing to give some little kiwi trash-burning company such a sweet deal, it doesn't give them a strong hand with major partners. It's a bit like a company making bold claims about their massive global potential then partnering up with the local kid's lemonade stand.
I'm also curious about the ability of the algae to survive in the type of waste gas produced by burning garbage. I'd have thought it would contain too many impurities which would be toxic to the algae, but presumably they sort the garbage to keep out anything which would produce toxins or have some way of purifying the exhaust fumes or have some other trick... or perhaps they are setting themselves up for failure. It'll be interesting to watch, if they actually do get as far as building plants fed by garbage fumes.
Perhaps the move to partner with a 'minnow' isn't really that bad and I'm just negative because of all the other red warning lights flashing around AEB, but the other red lights certainly haven't stopped flashing. Not surprisingly there was the typical blip in share price and volume followed by a return to around the previous level, I presume to be followed by a return to the same trend. On the plus side, at least for the moment the depth is actually looking much better.
