No it's not all that matters.
The details are important as that's where money is made or lost. Also for shareholders AKE did nothing - share price went up and then to where it was.
For the votes - nearly 30% disagreement is not nothing and is a hint that something wasn't that good. I'm not sure about management anymore and will sell mid to longterm. Also the bigger a company the more room for corruption, it's not always a good thing. Sure, one competitor less, but really China is the determining factor so I deem it less important.
Let's see where the price goes next year. I don't expect it to be higher than it was or could be without the merger.
