No doubt there will be a huge shortfall in supply at some point because at current copper prices the return on investment required is simply not viable. I agree with Robert Friedland no investment and declining grades in South America and something has to give but it 'aint happening. I know the reason lithium prices will rebound because despite all the hype I can still count new mines that will be producing any time soon on one hand.
I think Benchmark Intelligence are on the mark but when a major supplier like Albermarle can't figure it out -a company that close to the market you have to conclude the Chinese are playing their usual games. Remember when oil went to zero recently and they were saying it was worthless -the volatility is such now noone has a clue what is going to happen next. I am an iron ore bull and it's gone ballistic -USD $ 135 tonne and Chinese property in dire straits -once again all the Goldman Sachs analysts predicting sub USD$ 100 all looking like idiots. But it could tank to $50 tomorrow and that's why despite record prices for Fe - U - Au it's not being reflected in share prices - punters are gun shy.
The gold price is a licence to print money and gold stocks in the doghouse. And that has nothing to do with EV's lol.
