OK, I will say it again because it seems to be misunderstood.
These batteries ARE unique. They are NOT sodium ion batteries (of which there are many examples). They are solid state, sodium chloride batteries.
The tech has been developed in Germany and are a ceramic cathode with a self forming anode.
There are many competing technologies in the battery/energy storage market with different benefits and weaknesses but please be clear these are not sodium ion batteries. For clarity please stop using that terminology.
The benefits of cerenergy batteries are basically safety (can't catch fire), operating temperature range, low cost ingredients, no maintenance and long life span. All this leads to an "expected" low cost per kw of storage.
The disadvantages are low energy density, size and internal operating temp (thus requiring insulation). This means they are not suitable for EVs rather stationary energy storage.
Sodium Ion batteries could have applications in the EV market
This is an over simplified explanation but please stop referring to sodium ion batteries.
