Not really that is beyond my knowledge. I do find that interesting though. Powder for Li-ion market makes sense because they are using it to make film seperators for batteries so I assume they put the powder in moulds to form these films.
The rest of it I assume is being used primarily for LED's, maybe it is easier to heat and mould the pellets into the sapphire glass than using powder? Then again I would have thought it would be a similar application to making the films for batteries so I am not sure on the reasoning between two different formats.
I also would have thought the pellets would be harder to produce so it seems strange than we can do 100% output as pellets but max output as powder is 33% with remainder as pellets.
Anyone with more technical knowledge that can shed some more light on this?
