Thanks @Muad'Dib that answers some of my questions and explains the original capex figure appears to have been a guesstimate. Sure they could have built a solution for the lower amount that maybe ran for 5 years and had impurities. However, that is not what a German company, like SMS, would do...
Lets recap my questions;
- Has refinery life increased? i.e. quality of components YES
- Has refinery capacity increased? YES
- Is their more cost loaded into Stage 1 and less in Stage 2?
- Is process flow been optimized or enhanced? YES
- Are there byproduct opportunities?- anything else...
Can someone please point me to the other benefits of the revised SMS design?
