I think the point might have been that regardless of how inaccurate the reading was by that person, the announcement is still a very positive development for the company. I don't think it is strange for folks to find your wholly derisive and negative post to be odd enough to warrant comment. There are ways of pointing out people's mistakes without coming across as a kill-joy or any of the other things people sometimes call you here.
