BLG has been improving reliabilty over time. Commercial reliabilty is the point where customers are happy to buy the product.
Laser diodes are used in pyrotechnic devices. They just need to fire reliably once when called upon.
There would be many applications where always on, full power are not required. As reliabilty improves, more application become possible.
CM based development is slow. The Fab is about to really speed up the improvements.
I'm looking forward to hearing news on RPCVD LD development.
