Leaving aside Dexus' comments about AMP having incompetent management (not a new story)...What this move flags is that there is significant value in the underlying AMP Capital's underlying funds which are not reflected clearly the stock price.
The move to 50/50 JV could work, further building scale and reducing costs - see CLAMP JV benefits. The fund could be one of the biggest australian property fund providing clients with scale, wider footprint, and optionality benefits given the larger more diversified portfolio.
