IMO, AMP invest money, if there is less money to invest there is less profits. I think that the ring fence AMP Life and run it down.
As for AMP itself, it becomes an investor managing investments on behalf of share holders. They can then do listed investments and policies so if someone wants to sell their policy, they put the units on the market and see who wants to purchase them, including AMP if they have the money. This would mean publishing more detailed investment reports, than what a policy holder gets.

AMP is like a home owning pensioner, Asset rich cash poor.
