I wouldn’t necessarily say discounting is because they’re stuck with old product. The heavy discounting is likely both:
1. A sharp correction of sorts reverting back to their tried and tested sales strategy
2. Strategy for increased uptake in leadup to software add-on services.
The first recorder I bought years ago also had a $100 cash back scheme.
The hardware uptake will ultimately drive the software services.
At a cursory glance across some sites, the Ninja Connect add-on is already looking like a top seller in their main market (US) despite being a preorder item.
I think Q2 next FY will be particularly interesting.
