Implications at the very least for wages (do you need as many staff checking things if you have monitors + lidar + other data capture in IR for crop health), and for the finance/loans/sale of agricultural property - if you can produce detailed stats on how productive your land is, I can see a world where that reduces borrowing costs or increases asking prices of property.
Just focusing on the real estate use case (which is boring, entirely achievable, etc); that's land transfers up to ~15 billion / 10.8 million hectares (2021 figures, apparently a record high) per year. If you convinced 10% of buyers to spend 0.1% of the purchase price getting a report, that's a million bucks a year revenue stream for basically producing a PDF snapshot.
As they go a lot further than that, I can see why they'd pay what they have and will likely keep on doing it on a regular basis for lidar/imagery.
