Just a bit intrigued as to who it is that can make a submission to the FAA for approval. Is it only the OEM eg Boeing, or could AEM/SMN make a submission or might an operator such as Delta make a submission?
This current delay is based on (I presume) Boeing performing testing of a product that they might install on an air frame at construction stage. Who knows how long Boeing might take to perform their testing and eventually say yes – or no.What’s the hurry - as we are now finding out? But then we have had Delta fitting these devices to multiple existing aircraft, finding no issues and understanding exactly the benefit of the monitoring system. They know already that it works and doesn’t cause the plane to rot out underneath the sensor. So why cannot Delta make a submission in conjunction with AEM/SMN on behalf of all existing aircraft?
This is moving into joke stage.
