It can be shorted after the run up to a dollar because there is something to short.
Prior to mid October this stock was doing what it had done for the last 10 years, nothing.
No money to be made shorting it or going long, (I've been long for 5 years BTW)
Your dramatic upswing in your chart is because there is life here now, not some nefarious dealing by unknowns.
Heavy number of shorters? Perhaps too quick of a run up on quite small drilling news presents an opportunity for the brave
I for one will hang around and find out what happens on the long side next year.
