SP was destroyed by a third after they announced the CR, drilling had only just started. You can hypothesise what you wish, however it was a perfect opportunity for the larger players to create fear and uncertainty.
One thing rich people don't like doing and that's losing money. The large amounts coming through is a good indication that those same investors are here for a reason.
Additional drilling and extra rig are nothing but positive. You don't waste money on a dud.
