I can acknowledge that generally having additional aircraft in a fleet will build redundancy, thus decreasing operational vulnerability. In saying this, ETOPS restrictions are greater for twin engine aircraft in comparison to LROPS for four engine aircraft.

ETOPS restrictions aside; the cost for a 787 is ~$243.6 million (https://www.aircraftcompare.com/helicopter-airplane/Boeing-787-9/32) and the cost for an A380 ~$437.5 million (https://www.aircraftcompare.com/helicopter-airplane/Airbus-A380-900/62). Basic arithmetic proves that QATNAS would need to find operational savings of ~$49.7million with buying two 787s over one A380. Furthermore, an A380 can carry an extra ~320 passengers (depending on configuration) over two 787s.
