@ Notthatwarren not that tough, good work on finding that Ad though. I guess the idea is to try and find a diamond in the rough. I am sure that there are a lot of people on HC would be able to meet some of those criteria. I would be annoyed if they hired someone who couldn't do any of those things, pretty basic stuff for an analyst. If you don't know all of that by the end of first year at uni you should really consider changing your aspirations. If you want to work for a fund manager and haven't read an investing book, you have never made an investment, you cant use excel and yet you think you might be a good investor (keep smoking the green stuff). I would make the criteria about 10x harder than that.

You must be able to show past investments you have held and articulate why you bought the shares, why you sold the shares and what prompted both your purchase and sale
Provide a history of your annualised portfolio returns Y
ou must have read and be familiar with some contemporary investment books and be able to articulate how that has influenced your views on investing (we like Warren Buffet, but you can have your own favourite)
You must be able to demonstrate knowledge of VBA and have superior MS Excel skills
