Let's examine the boards of the ASX listed providers:
Evolve - two board members Greg Kern and Mark Finlay both with extensive backgrounds in early childhood education and care.
Think Childcare - two board members Mathew Edwards and Mark Kerr, again extensive experience in early childhood education and care.
Mayfield - three board members Dean & Michelle Clarke and Sandra Fynmore many many years experience in early childhood education.
G8 have only Chris Scott, for the time being.
They need more depth in both their board and management team, that can bring experience and knowledge of both early childhood development and the delivery of successful centre operations.
The mention of "supply chain" is exactly what they are delivering, and therein lies the problem. This is the main reason they are having issues with occupancy. They IMO need to restructure the roles and have clear and higher expectations of their centre managers and area managers.
They need to concentrate on the development of staff by identifying and meeting the individual training needs of staff, that will improve the care they deliver to the children and the families in their individual centres at any particular time. They need to be networking within their communities, creating awareness and trust in their local communities. Until then G8 will be viewed as a "supply chain", hopefully individualism will become a priority and we never hear comparisons being drawn between Bunnings and corporate Childcare services.
