It's been a good week for GNC, with sagacious @Portsmouth proven correct that the SP was being 'held down' prior to yesterday's AGM, or so I opine. (Take it or leave it).
Given the fall in some other sectors, we need a bit more reasonable news, so just before 1800 AEDT on Friday 17 February 2023, I spied with my little ageing eye:
* an empty GNC grain hopper wagon consist from Portland, Vic operated, as usual, by Pacific National is passing through the tiny hamlet, though important junction station, of Maroona (just south of Ararat, Vic) to travel to Marmalake or near there to pick up more grain. As Portsmouth informed, GNC's shipping program is busy - 'chockas' - with Portland, Victoria included in that assessment.
* another standard gauge grain train was sitting at the terminus of the Benalla-Oaklands standard gauge line. I lack information on its movement but probably will depart some time this evening for GNC's mammoth complex at the North Geelong Grain Loop to be exported.
* in the NSW Riverina, a grain train had been at GNC Barellan - note the frequent trains - from about 0950 AEDT this morning until about 1650 this afternoon. It's on its way to Cootamundra West: not sure if it'll keep going to Port Kembla's Inner Harbour or whether it will stable at Cootamundra for some hours
There are at least another three NSW grain trains but not all may be for GNC.
