R1, I think you're talking about high frequency trading? Which is an attempt to manually gain some speed advantage. There are quants who also write trading bots in python on a laptop. This chip AXE has shown us so far...could easily fit in a laptop , desktop too. Smartphone deployment of the 12cq might be for less exciting uses. A qpu like 12cq could be part of a laptop like an nvidia gpu is in gaming laptops and desktops. When this 12cq gets made, we will have to see which markets are ready for it.
