Thanks to all who replied on this thread. The "on the ground" personal experiences from you are valuable insights. It seems the issue with Healthscope is not over yet from a recent headlines.
"Healthscope said their contract with Bupa will terminate on February 20, 2025, with a March 4, 2025, termination date for AHSA funds, which includes Australian Unity, GMHBA, Health Partners, Westfund and HIF. The move is reported to affect six million people and 38 hospitals, according to media reports."

I'm not sure how this negotiation is going to play out. I'm thinking Healthscope has a fairly justified case for the stated increase from insurers given the surge in inflation (costs) over the last 2 years, plus the recent action from nurses looking for a 15% pay increase.
"Hundreds of nurses at the country’s two top private health providers walked off the job last week in support for immediate pay increases of up to 15 per cent. Rising staff wages are the biggest concern for hospitals struggling to keep maternity and mental health wards open."

This is what the disagreement is over:
"The proposed fee by Healthscope was a payment of $50 for same-day patients and $100 for an overnight admission."

To be honest I don't think this is a massive amount in context of todays prices for everything. $100 is about one shopping bag at Woollies or Coles these days if you buy some meat or fish. If you are in private hospital for either elective or life saving surgery, then this daily amount is a no brainer IMO.
