From a community perspective, this represents institutionalised theft, that has snuck up on us along with other forms of obese remuneration. Our legal system will catch up with this eventually but don't hold your breath. In the meantime we need to protest at every opportunity.

I have no problem with true risk takers, entrepreneurs, private companies rewarding themselves as best they can but once the investing public is invited to get involved then all forms of remuneration s/be related to the task in hand. Administration of an organisation such as ours should not be complex and remuneration packages should reflect this. If it is complex - then someone is not doing their job effectively and should be replaced (and any options cancelled).
